camping + birthday = fun!

Last weekend, Matt and I went camping with our wonderful friends-- the Hellewells. We got some nice new sleeping bags, and spent 2 nights in beautiful Zion Canyon. We did lots of hiking and sightseeing, and enjoying the 3-day weekend.

When we got to the campsite, we were told-- NO FIRES (including charcoal). If it weren't for my lovely parents who brought us a propane stove, we would have gone hungry. We even made our smores by stove!

In other news, Matt is now 23! He had to go to school so the day wasn't too eventful, but while he we gone I was able to decorate his BIKE CAKE!

I'm no master at cake decorating, but I think that's a pretty sweet bike. And it was delicious!! Speaking of cake.. I think I'll go have another piece!

Harry Potter

The final movie in the Harry Potter series comes out THIS WEEK! And yes, I do have my tickets to the midnight showing (well, actually the 12:20 showing). I remember thinking that I was going to be so old by the time the last movie came out. Well, I'm not too old that that I don't still LOVE Harry Potter!

In the spirit of Harry Potter, here's a little questionnaire...

Easy. Luna Lovegood.

#2. Who is your least favorite character?

Hmm. I'm going to have to say Gilderoy Lockhart. Can't stand him.

#3. If you were one of the Professors who would you be?

McGonagall all the way.

#4. If you were one of the students who would you be?

Again, I would have to say Luna.

#5. Which one is most like you- Harry, Hermione, or Ron?

Hermione. I'm a girl, I love to read, and people often mispronounce my name.

#6. Which house would you be in?

Either Gryffindor or Revenclaw.

#7. What position would you play in quidditch?

A beater. That would be fun!

#8. Which owl would you be? Hedwig the Snowy Owl, Errol the Great Gray Owl, Pigwidgeon the Little Owl, or Percy's Screech Owl?

Weird question... I guess I would be Hedwig.

#9. Which would you bring to Hogwarts- an owl, cat, or toad?

Definitely Owl. They're kind of like cell phones.

#10. Which subject would you be best at?

Probably potions. I am pretty good at cooking...

#11. Which subject would you be worst at?

Magical Creatures. I'm not an animal person, and definitely not a weird animal person.

#12. Which store would interest you the most in Hogsmeade?

Fred and George's joke shop. I loved reading about their creations.

#13. Who would you want to go with to the Yule Ball?

Oliver Wood! What a cutie!

#14. Who would be your number 1 enemy?

Delores Umbridge. Grrr.

#15. What would your patronas be?

A flamingo. That would be awesome.

Staycation

So last week was very eventful, and I decided to call our "staycation" since we had a nice little vacation right here in Utah. We were able to spend time with both sides of the family and I am still recuperating from all of the excitement.

Here's our last week at a glance:

Friday: Concert in Provo with my sisters-in-law
