Top 10 Crying Incidents This Week

Molly is teething, and growing, and not napping so she's been a little on edge lately.  This week I have laughed as so many of these reasons she had a fit. Now I get all those memes about what made your toddler cry on the internet... Here's Molly's top 10:

1.  Pandora was in between songs
2.  I didn't let her wear her snow boots while eating lunch
3.  She wanted to throw a piece of trash away, but the trash can was blocked
4.  I kept opening the dishwasher to put dishes in, but she wanted it shut
5.  She wanted her nose suctioned out when it didn't need it
6.  I wouldn't let her wear her fancy dress on a super cold day
7.  I forgot to let her push the start button on the laundry machine
8.  I went to the bathroom
9.  I wasn't making the bed fast enough
10.  She only had one sock on, so I took if off

18 Months

Molly is 18 months old! I can't believe how big she is and she's learning new things so quickly! She is definitely not my little baby anymore.

Lately Molly:
  • Still weighs about 25 pounds, and is about 33 inches tall
  • Wears size 4 diapers and wear 18m, 24m, and 2T clothes depending on the style and brand
  • Started taking a mommy-and-me gymnastics class and loves to do forward rolls (with help)
  • Loves to watch music videos! She will sit and watch them on the computer while mommy gets ready in the morning... her favorites are Taylor Swift's Shake it Off and an LDS youth video called Good the Be Alive
  • Understands sooooo much! She can follow pretty complicated directions, and points to things when I say them that I had no idea she knew.
  • Doesn't talk too much, but babbles a lot. She knows about 15 words and several letters, but hasn't really learned any new words in the past few weeks. She's very good at saying "up" and uses that one all day long.
  • Loves routine.  She will remind me to do her hair in the morning, and wants to take a bath every day even though we only bathe her every other.
  • Is still an inconsistent napper. Some days no nap, other days a 3-hour nap, some days a 20 minute nap.  She is usually okay without a nap, but if she misses 2 days in a row, she's a nightmare.
  • Loves playing with stickers, but i can't get her to color with crayons for more that 1 minute.
  • Is starting to have lots of tantrums. Getting in the car, getting dressed, and leaving a fun place are the most likely causes... or if she sees cheese sticks in the cart at the grocery store.
  • Loves snacks.  She will eat an applesauce or a cheese stick any time, but is becoming a picky eater at the table.
  • Still doesn't really like TV which is okay with me, but loves to listen to Pandora or her Popcorn Bopping CD while she plays.
  • Has gotten sick 3 times in the past 2 months... took a trip to the ER for croup, and had her first stomach bug.
  • Still loves story time and pays a lot more attention now, especially to the songs.
  • Loves going on walks and to the playground.
  • Loves dogs and always points to her window so you'll pick her up to see if the neighbor's dog is outside.
  • Likes to help clean up (if she's done playing) and like to throw away trash.
  • Has a few favorite toys: her stacking cups, megablocks, and both of her talking ABC toys
  • Loves to give hugs and kisses to everything and says "awww" when she does it.
  • Has long enough hair to put in pigtails and a ponytail! Her bangs are super long, but I don't want to cut them since they can reach her pigtails... and when here hair is down it looks like a mullet.
  • Is so much fun! I laugh everyday playing with Molly and love watching her turn into a full-fledged toddler.

Crafting

I love to craft, but it's hard to find the time and motivation with a toddler running around all day.  I finally got to making a hair bow holder for Molly's room and it turned out pretty darn cute!

A bought a frame at Goodwill, added some hooks at the bottom, painted the whole thing white with my favorite chalky paint, and hot glued on some ribbons.  As easy as that sounds, it took me like 2 weeks to actually finish.  Molly seems to like it though and liked helping me put the bows on it!

If you every attempt to make one of these here are some expert tips:

1. Don't spend hours in the craft store picking ribbons that go well together.. they are just going to be covered up!

2. Don't glue the ribbons to the very back, then there will be no room to hook the bows. Glue them to the inside ledge of the frame so there's space between them and the wall, or you'll have to rip them all off and do it all over again.

3. Use a leveler or you'll end up making four holes in your wall when you only needed two.

Number 2!

Well, in case you don't know.... we're expecting baby #2 in September! Haven't made it "facebook" knowledge yet, but I couldn't wait to tell the close friends and family that read the blog.

We are so excited, and slightly terrified to become parents of two!  Matt kept joking that it was twins, but I had my first appointment on Monday and there is definitely only one baby in there.

(For some reason, I feel like this one looks much more like a baby than Molly did at my first appointment for her)

This pregnancy has been a little different than the first. I feel A LOT more nauseous.  Maybe it's from chasing around a toddler, and maybe it's just this baby. I have also had food aversion sooo bad. I only want to eat bread, chocolate, and super salty things.  The thought of most food makes me gag.  Luckily I've only had one day of throwing up, but riding in the car and bending down are my worst enemies now.

I've also been getting rashes. Really itchy ones. It shows up about 3 mornings and week and is gone by dinner time.  This has been happening for about 3 weeks, and I completely forgot to mention it to my OB at my visit! I'm not worried about it, and google says it could be from testosterone in your system, so maybe I'm having a little man ;)

Just like last pregnancy, I'm sooooo tired.  Having a toddler doesn't help. I can't take naps whenever I want like I did last time, which is a struggle.  Fatigue was my worst symptom last pregnancy, and it seems to be the worst this time too. Sometimes it makes me feel like a bad mom when I just lay on the couch and watch Molly play, but she's so independent lately that I don't think she minds.

Also, we were pleasantly surprised how quickly we were able to conceive this time. It took us over a year and half of charting my temperature and ovulation for us to get pregnant the first time, but this time it happened with very minimal "trying"... What a blessing!

I'm about 12 weeks now, but here's a picture from 10 weeks.

I feel like I'm going to show a lot sooner this time. My pants still fit okay, but my tummy is starting to stick out a little over my pants. I just got out my maternity clothes this week to wash, and I'm secretly excited for when I get to wear them... though I'm sure I'll be way over that once I need them ;)

We've tried talking to Molly about it, but she doesn't understand. I don't think she will until right before the baby is born or until after.  I will be interesting to see how she reacts to my belly getting bigger.

12 weeks down, 28 to go!
