Carson: Month 3

Our little dude is 3 months old now and growing like crazy!

This month Carson:
  • Wears 3, 3-6, and 6 months clothes (depending on brand) and size 2 diapers
  • Weighs about 14 pounds
  • Is taking 5-6 bottles a day of 4-6oz, and eats about every 3.5 hours during the day
  • Goes for a stretch of about 5-6 hours at night
  • Loves his mobiles and has started to hit the hanging toys with his hands
  • Has just started to laugh, and it's adorable!
  • Smiles like crazy, and still likes his sister best
  • Likes to be held in a sitting up position
  • Still has quite a bit of gas, but we haven't used gas drops in a while and it doesn't seem to bother him too much
  • Still has his old man hair-do, and it doesn't seem like it will fall out
  • Sleeps best on the diaper pad in the living room with music on, but is often woken up by his sister running around so he takes most naps in his crib
  • Naps 4 times a day for about 45 minutes each, except for a long one around dinner time (which drives me nuts that it's not when daddy isn't home)
  • Loves his new toy dog Scout and will stare at it for 15 minutes with a huge smile on his face
  • Is starting to be a more content baby, but still would rather be held all day long

Thanksgiving 2017

This Thanksgiving we spent at home with some great friends that came to visit us from Southern CO! We had lots of good food and conversation, and we're so sad that the Reeds have moved so far away!

Molly helping me make peanut butter pie!

Love these peeps!

The day after we went to the tree lighting down town. Molly loved watching the choirs sing! Carson was bundled up in his stroller.

Carson: Month 2

Carson is now 2 months old, and is growing like a weed!

This month Carson:
  • Weighs 12 lbs 14 oz (59%) and is 24 7/8 inches tall (98%)
  • Had a growth spurt last week and is now wearing 3 month and 3-6 month clothes
  • Has 5 bottles of about 4 oz each about every 3.5 hours during the day
  • Sleeps for two stretches of about 5 hours at night with a feeding usually around 3:00am
  • Is still a fussy eater and screams during his feeding about twice a day (never at the same time of day, and it's super inconsistent so we think he just has a case of the gassies)
  • Has gotten into the habit of only napping with a pacifier which can be annoying since he can't put it back in himself
  • Takes 4 one hour naps in his crib during the day, but sleeps best in his car seat
  • Loves to watch his sister run around and play
  • Can hold is head up pretty well, and mostly enjoys his tummy time
  • Still has a TON of hair and it's still very dark!
  • Smiles all the time, especially for mommy
  • Is still extremely gassy, but I think it's getting a little better since we haven't used gas drops quite as often
  • Loves the MAM brand bottles and pacifiers and won't take any other kinds
  • Likes to play under the mobile play-mats for about 10 minutes which making the cutest noises

Transitions

Molly's life has been completely changed with the arrival of her new little brother.  She is doing surprisingly well with all the changes, and has transitioned in even more ways since he's been born.

Big Girl Bed

After Molly fell out of her crib while having a tantrum and landed on her head, we decided to make the switch to a toddler bed. The first night she cried at the door (we locked it) for about 10 minutes and then climbed into her bed and fell asleep.  Since then, she is an even better sleeper since we made the switch! She doesn't even get out of bed until we open her door in the morning, and she has taken a good nap EVERY SINGLE DAY since. She has fallen out in the middle of the night a couple of times, but she sure loves her big girl bed.

We put a pool noodle under her sheet for the first few nights to prevent her from falling out

She slept like this for a while!

Potty Training
Since Matt got 6 weeks off for paternity leave this time, we decided to start potty training while he was here to help.  One morning we just explained to her that she was now a big girl and she was going to wear big girl underwear from now on.  She watched Potty Power that morning and we told her over and over and over "no no pee-pee in your underwear".  This first week she had about 2 accidents a day and we tried to stay home most of the day. We are well into the second week now, and it's been 2 days since she's had an accident that was more that a dribble.  She is really starting to get the hang of it and LOVES the attention she gets from going on the potty (and the fruit snack reward).
