4 months

Molly is 4 months old!

She has grown a ton, and has lots of new skills.  Here's what she's up to these days:
  • Weighs  14 lbs(45%), is 26.5 in long(95%), and her head circumference is 42cm(86%).
  • Loves her hands! She is either staring at them, sucking them, or holding them together
  • Can roll both directions, but doesn't do it too often.. she likes playing on both her tummy and her back
  • Loves to sit and stand, but is nowhere close to being able to do them by herself
  • Is in the process of switching from breast milk to formula.  I'm a little sad about this, but it will be MUCH better for both of us
  • Grunts. This is her new thing... I think she's trying to talk to us. She mostly does it when she's bored or tired
  • Still sleeps like a champ at night (8-11 hours), but has a hard time napping
  • Likes to grab anything in reach, especially my glasses, and gets angry that she can't crawl to reach her toys
  • Has finally stopped wailing anytime she gets in the car, and is such a good little girl when we go to the store
  • Smiles all the time, but her laughs are few and far between (though SUPER adorable)
  • Loves it when we sing to her! Her favorites are "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and "Popcorn Popping". She can't sit still through a whole story anymore though..
  • Is crying a lot less in general, and just looks around in here crib when she wakes up from her nap. So I never really know how long she really naps for
  • Still sleeps with one arm swaddled. For some reason she sleeps so soundly this way.. I guess she's got one arm in for security and one out to suck on
  • DROOLS! Oh so much drool! She wears a bib sometimes, and her hands are always freezing because they're always wet
Here's some more pictures from this month.

A Day in the Life of Molly

I have learned that Molly REALLY loves being on a schedule. If we do something out of the ordinary, she lets you know that she's not happy. Here is what our typical day looks like:

Between 5:30 and 7:00 --- Wake up and Nurse (Daddy normally goes to get her, changes her, and brings her to me in bed)

Then we either play for a while if she slept in later, or she goes right back to sleep for 1-3 hours if she got up at 5:30 (and I go back to sleep too)

8:30 --- Story and Nap (About an hour)

Between 9:30 and 10:15 --- Play in crib with mobile and then nurse

10:45 --- Play with Mommy, or run errands

12:00pm --- Story and Nap (About an hour), or still running errands

1:00 --- Bottle (6-7 oz)

1:30 --- Play with Mommy

2:00 --- Story and Nap (About 2 hours!)

4:15 --- Nurse

4:45- 5:15 --- Alone play while Mommy makes dinner

5:30- 6:30 --- Play with Daddy

6:50 --- Bath time (twice a week)

Between 6:50 and 8:00 --- Bottle (6 oz), stories, songs and bedtime!

Then she wakes up sad/scared about 1/2 to 1 hour later.  We go comfort her back to sleep.  Sometimes this happens 3 times before 10:00.  But then she sleeps about 8-10 hours!

It's super nice that I can now plan my days according to her schedule. She usually doesn't vary more than a half hour.  Now that church is at 11:00 it's a little tricky trying to get her to nap during or after so she usually goes to bed early on Sundays because she's a fussy-pants.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

We had a nice and relaxing Christmas here in Colorado.  We slept in until about 8:00 when Molly woke up and then had breakfast and opened our presents.  I think Molly was a little confused that we kept putting shiny toys in front of her face, but she enjoyed it for the most part.  She slept like a log after all the excitement. We also got some snow that night too!

Silly daddy.. toys are for eating!

Lots has happened for us in 2014 including buying a house and having a beautiful little girl.  I can't wait to see what 2015 has in store! Happy new year!

    3 months

This little cutie is 3 months old!

This month has been full of learning and growing! Here's what Molly's been up to:
    • Now weighs 12 lbs 7oz (still just below 40th percentile) and is 25 inches tall!
    • Is still sleeping great! (6-10 hours at night) I have to wake her up in the morning sometimes to make sure I can get enough feedings in before bedtime.  She takes 4 naps during the day about 1 hour each.
    • Wears mostly 3 month clothes. Some 0-3, some 3-6. And still size 1 diapers (though I think this will be our last box)
    • Smiles and talks A LOT! If I say "Goo Goo Goo", she'll smile and try to laugh.. so cute!
    • Has a fascination with her feet.  She will stare at them forever, but hasn't quite gotten the hang of grabbing them with her hands
    • Sucks on her hand all the time... but won't really take a pacifier unless she's really mad
    • Gets scared when we walk down the stairs.  She'll tighten all her muscles and stick her arms out like she think she's going to fall
    • Has started playing with toys.  She likes her elephant and bear the best.
    • Is being weaned off of her swaddle.  She's getting strong and gets out most of the time, but needs it to fall asleep so we are currently wrapping her with just one arm inside.  She does a lot less grunting in her sleep now that her right hand is out.
    • Loves to look at the Christmas tree lights, and at mommy and daddy while they eat food.
    • Is taking acid reflux medication which seems to be helping, though she is still very fussy at most of her feeding times
    • Has started to entertain herself when she wakes up from a nap.  She just lies there with her hand in her mouth looking around until she make a loud coo and I know she's awake.
    • Hates being held like a baby.  She likes to face outward or over your shoulder to she can see everything.

Here are some more pictures from this month!
