7 months

We now have a 7 month old! This age is so much fun and I LOVE being her mommy!

This month Molly:
  • Wears mostly 6-9 month and 9 month clothes, and size 3 diapers
  • Has tried lots of foods, but doesn't understand finger food yet
  • Can sit up and CRAWL! She gets faster every day, and is so happy that she can move around
  • Finally sleeps unswaddled for naps, and falls to sleep for them on her own.  We did the "cry it out" method, but she never cries for more than 5 minutes before falling asleep
  • Doesn't talk too much... she mostly just says "ahhh" over and over again
  • Has a little bit of separation anxiety.  Some days she cries if I leave her side, and some days she'll play by herself all day long
  • Still doesn't have any teeth, and very little hair
  • Loves to crawl under the coffee table and to the kitchen floor
  • Likes banging her hand on the high chair and likes it when you join in
  • Sticks her tongue out all the time! She recently discovered it and plays with it a lot
  • Is starting to enjoy bath time and splashes with her hands like crazy
  • Loves it when daddy comes home.. she flaps around and gives him such a big smile
  • Will not sit still.. I think it's been months since she rested her head on me at all.  I miss the cuddles

Serious faces

Happy Molly

Molly is still happy on a set schedule and it's changed a lot since the last one so I wanted to do a little update. This is far more for me than for anyone who reads this.  I want to remember for the next one and so I can look back and remember the good old days :)

6:30/7:00 -  Wake up and play in crib for about 10 minutes

7:15 -  8 oz bottle

Play time while Mommy eats breakfast and gets dressed

8:15 - Breakfast (1/2 jar of fruit, yogurt or mixed cereal)

8:45/9:15 Goes down for nap (anywhere from 1/2 hour to 2 hours)

10:45 - 5 oz bottle

11:00 - Lunch (Cereal and sometimes a fruit or veggie if she's still hungry)

Play time

12:30/1:00 - Goes down for nap (again 1/2 hour to 2 hours... so inconsistent!)

2:45 - 6-8 oz bottle

Play time

3:30 - Optional 3rd nap (if both the other ones were short and sometimes in the stroller while I walk)

5:30/6:00 - Dinner (Veggies plus fruit/meat/cereal and some finger foods from our dinner)

6:15 -  Bath(2-3 times a week), jammies, 6-7 oz bottle, story, songs

7:00 - Bedtime! (takes about 15 minutes to fall asleep and sleeps until morning)

Happy Girl!

6 months

Happy Half Birthday Molly!

At 6 months, Molly:
  • Weighs about 16 pounds and seems to not have grown much in length
  • Wears mostly 6 month clothes, some 3-6, some 6-9, and size 3 diapers
  • Has almost gotten the hang of sitting.  I still don't walk to the other side of the room while she's sitting, but she's almost there
  • Likes to do pushups.  She hasn't figured out crawling but will get up on all fours like shes doing a plank
  • Is getting better at napping.  She consistently sleeps for about 1.5 hours for her morning nap and about 1 hour for her afternoon nap. (She's still swaddled for naps) And still sleeps about 10-11 hours at night
  • Has tried even more solid foods.  Sweet potatoes and squash are still her favorite, and she really doesn't like chicken or green beans.
  • Gets a rash on her face every time we try a fruit... I'm hoping she'll just grow out of this, but we'll ask the doc next week
  • Is falling asleep on her own at night! We sing a song and just put her in bed. It takes her about 15 minutes for her to settle and then she's zonked for the night
  • Hates cuddling.  She wiggles like crazy and will never sit still... sometimes I just want to snuggle, but she won't let me
  • Gets really excited when daddy come home from work! So cute!
  • Is very social. She smiles, coos and laughs at everyone who looks at her, and is very loved by all the young women in our ward
  • Loves phones. I have to hide my phone if it's even in the same room as her and she tries to grab every phone she sees
  • Loves playing with her teething toys, her princess doll, and her singing puppy dog
  • Looks for me to make sure I'm still in the room when she's playing. She will sometimes cry if I leave the room for a minute
  • Does not like being on her back.  She will always turn to her tummy within a minute, and also sleeps on her tummy at night. I'm hoping this will help her hair grow back on her bald spot

She can only move backwards

Look at those thighs!

Stay Little

Parenting - Five Mistakes that Moms Make. the36thavenue.com #kids

Gosh, is this true. I found this quote on pinterest today as I was wishing Molly would sleep for 3 hours. What a good reminder for me to enjoy this stage.  Molly isn't even a year old yet, and sometimes I look at her and tear up because she's not longer a snuggly little newborn. Some days are hard. Some days are harder. But when she laughs at my opera voice, or gives me a huge smile when I go get her from her naps I think, "This is what it's all about". I love being a Mom. It's so hard, and I go crazy that I don't as much time to clean or cook as I would like... but when I look back on this time of my life, what I want to remember is her. Her smile and pure heart.  So let the days be long! I want as much time with my precious little girl as I can possibly squeeze in because I know the years will fly by.

5 Months

My little girl is growing so fast!

At 5 months, Molly...
  • Weighs about 15 pounds (on home scale), and is about 27 in long
  • Wears 3, 3-6 and 6 month clothes and size 2 diapers
  • Has started solid foods.  So far she's tried rice cereal, oatmeal, squash and sweet potatoes and loves them all
  • Talks A LOT.  She goos, squeals, grunts, and makes lots of funny throaty sounds
  • Still sleeps 9-11 hours at night, and still has a hard time napping (about 2 hours total in 3 naps)
  • Is now sleeping un-swaddled and has discovered that sleeping on her side or tummy is more comfortable so we often find her that way after about 30 mins
  • Is still rocked to sleep for her naps and bedtime, but can sometimes fall asleep on her own
  • Loves to sit in her high chair and watch us eat dinner while playing with kitchen utensils
  • Smiles and laughs even more... she laughs at random things, but they're not funny if you do them again
  • Really wants to both crawl and sit up, but she's not very good at either.  She has figured out how to roll around to get her toys though so I'm going to have to start baby-proofing
  • Has really dry, rosy cheeks most of the time (darn CO weather!) so she gets lots of lotion and Aquaphor on her face
  • Is getting really good at bringing her toys to her mouth.  She can almost hold her small bottles by herself.. she just needs help getting them at the right angle
  • Still takes acid reflux medication and is still a little fussy when drinking her bottles
  • Has started to realize that her toys still exist when I move them and will look around for them
  • Likes to grab our faces.  She will grab my lips, cheeks, nose, and eyes while eating and thinks it's funny if I pretend to eat her hands
  • Is now pretty much completely on formula (nurses once in the morning which will end in the next couple days) and eats 4 times a day.  She also gets 2 solid feedings a day

Here are some pictures from this month:
Still not sure about bath time

That is her foot.

I love Daddy!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Looks like she took a selfie! haha

Moved off the blanket!
