8 months

We now have a very playful, independent, fun-loving, 8 month old!

This month Molly:

  • Weighs about 19 pounds, and is still very tall (though I haven't measured her)
  • Wears mostly 6-9 month clothes and size 3 diapers
  • Can sit up from all fours, and can pull up to stand. She can use anything to stand up now including the walls.  She always has at least one bruise on her head from trying to do new things and will NEVER sit still (I have a feeling church is going to be a struggle the next few months)
  • Can very quickly climb the stairs (thanks to daddy), and wants to do this all day long
  • Is a squealer! She squeals most when she wants more food, and when she wants us to pay more attention to her
  • LOVES solid foods.  She has 3-4 jars of baby food plus some finger foods every day.  She loves yogurt, and vegetable mixes, and anything with chicken in it.  She's getting good at picking up and eating gerber puffs, mum-mums, bananas and peas
  • Has 4 bottles a day of 6-7 oz
  • Still doesn't like napping.  I really hope this won't be forever... she plays for about 30 mins in her crib before falling asleep and doesn't ever sleep very long.  I've tried different nap times, but no luck yet
  • Sleeps from 7:30pm to 6:30am most days
  • Has one tooth! She wasn't too cranky about getting her first one, but more are coming and she's been a major grumpy-pants the last few days.  She also has a drool rash on her face constantly
  • Loves to turn the pages when we read a story and loves reading the touch-and-feel books
  • Can clap her hands and dances when music starts to play
  • Is very social.  She loves smiling at other children and squeals at them at the store. She now sits in the cart seat and loves it!
  • Is starting to laugh more, but I still have to work really hard to get a good laugh out of her
  • Loves her closet.  She likes playing with her shoes and touching her clothes like a girly girl
  • Loves her daddy.  She gets so excited when he comes home and he gets a lot more smiles than mommy does lately
  • Likes to get the mail with mommy.  She tries to open the mailbox, and always looks inside when I open it
  • Babbles using consonant sounds now.  Most of the time it sounds like "blah blah blah blah"
  • Loves bath time. She splashes and smiles the whole time and then screams when we try to put her pajamas on
  • Likes to be outside, but unfortunately it's still cold and rainy here so we don't get play outside very much

Here's some more pictures from this month (I realized I need to start using a real camera and not just my phone.. sadly most of theses are not good quality)

7 months

We now have a 7 month old! This age is so much fun and I LOVE being her mommy!

This month Molly:
  • Wears mostly 6-9 month and 9 month clothes, and size 3 diapers
  • Has tried lots of foods, but doesn't understand finger food yet
  • Can sit up and CRAWL! She gets faster every day, and is so happy that she can move around
  • Finally sleeps unswaddled for naps, and falls to sleep for them on her own.  We did the "cry it out" method, but she never cries for more than 5 minutes before falling asleep
  • Doesn't talk too much... she mostly just says "ahhh" over and over again
  • Has a little bit of separation anxiety.  Some days she cries if I leave her side, and some days she'll play by herself all day long
  • Still doesn't have any teeth, and very little hair
  • Loves to crawl under the coffee table and to the kitchen floor
  • Likes banging her hand on the high chair and likes it when you join in
  • Sticks her tongue out all the time! She recently discovered it and plays with it a lot
  • Is starting to enjoy bath time and splashes with her hands like crazy
  • Loves it when daddy comes home.. she flaps around and gives him such a big smile
  • Will not sit still.. I think it's been months since she rested her head on me at all.  I miss the cuddles

Serious faces

Happy Molly

Molly is still happy on a set schedule and it's changed a lot since the last one so I wanted to do a little update. This is far more for me than for anyone who reads this.  I want to remember for the next one and so I can look back and remember the good old days :)

6:30/7:00 -  Wake up and play in crib for about 10 minutes

7:15 -  8 oz bottle

Play time while Mommy eats breakfast and gets dressed

8:15 - Breakfast (1/2 jar of fruit, yogurt or mixed cereal)

8:45/9:15 Goes down for nap (anywhere from 1/2 hour to 2 hours)

10:45 - 5 oz bottle

11:00 - Lunch (Cereal and sometimes a fruit or veggie if she's still hungry)

Play time

12:30/1:00 - Goes down for nap (again 1/2 hour to 2 hours... so inconsistent!)

2:45 - 6-8 oz bottle

Play time

3:30 - Optional 3rd nap (if both the other ones were short and sometimes in the stroller while I walk)

5:30/6:00 - Dinner (Veggies plus fruit/meat/cereal and some finger foods from our dinner)

6:15 -  Bath(2-3 times a week), jammies, 6-7 oz bottle, story, songs

7:00 - Bedtime! (takes about 15 minutes to fall asleep and sleeps until morning)

Happy Girl!

6 months

Happy Half Birthday Molly!

At 6 months, Molly:
  • Weighs about 16 pounds and seems to not have grown much in length
  • Wears mostly 6 month clothes, some 3-6, some 6-9, and size 3 diapers
  • Has almost gotten the hang of sitting.  I still don't walk to the other side of the room while she's sitting, but she's almost there
  • Likes to do pushups.  She hasn't figured out crawling but will get up on all fours like shes doing a plank
  • Is getting better at napping.  She consistently sleeps for about 1.5 hours for her morning nap and about 1 hour for her afternoon nap. (She's still swaddled for naps) And still sleeps about 10-11 hours at night
  • Has tried even more solid foods.  Sweet potatoes and squash are still her favorite, and she really doesn't like chicken or green beans.
  • Gets a rash on her face every time we try a fruit... I'm hoping she'll just grow out of this, but we'll ask the doc next week
  • Is falling asleep on her own at night! We sing a song and just put her in bed. It takes her about 15 minutes for her to settle and then she's zonked for the night
  • Hates cuddling.  She wiggles like crazy and will never sit still... sometimes I just want to snuggle, but she won't let me
  • Gets really excited when daddy come home from work! So cute!
  • Is very social. She smiles, coos and laughs at everyone who looks at her, and is very loved by all the young women in our ward
  • Loves phones. I have to hide my phone if it's even in the same room as her and she tries to grab every phone she sees
  • Loves playing with her teething toys, her princess doll, and her singing puppy dog
  • Looks for me to make sure I'm still in the room when she's playing. She will sometimes cry if I leave the room for a minute
  • Does not like being on her back.  She will always turn to her tummy within a minute, and also sleeps on her tummy at night. I'm hoping this will help her hair grow back on her bald spot

She can only move backwards

Look at those thighs!
